2022 has officially begun and I hope everyone had a great 2021. A good load of trends came and went last year as 2021 was "the" year of microtrends. Microtrends are those that rise quickly but fall even faster. These are trends that you want to avoid as the items bought for microtrends are often shoved to the back of the closet soon after they are bought. Fashion trends can be hard to put a finger on, but I find that it is helpful to look at what fashion designers put out during fashion weeks all around the world.
I have made a list of fashion trends that I believe will be big in 2022. Some of these trends have already slowly emerged but I think they will hit mainstream this year and be big.
Micro Mini Skirts a.k.a. Low Rise Mini Skirts
Who doesn't love mini skirts? To be quite honest, I am definitely their #1 fan. As the low rise trend takes over, it has spread to one of my favorites, mini skirts. Mini skirts are already mini, but if you take a look at these micro skirts, you probably have never seen anything shorter. Though they are short, they are adorable with baby tees and sweaters. They perfectly fit the current fashion flow and I am ecstatic to see everyone's micro mini skirt fits. If you are a fan of mini skirts, low rise jeans, or both, this is definitely a trend for you to look out!

Ballet Pumps
A possibly controversial trend, though adorable in my opinion, are ballet pumps. The past year or so mary janes and platform boots have been trending. Along with that, people began to wear leg warmers to compliment the shoes. So, I believe that these darling shoes will be the next "it" shoes that people will rush to get. They look stunning with skirts or dresses and are perfect for the spring and summer.

Socks with Sandals & Heels
While they have always been present in high fashion, wearing socks with sandals or heels have been despised by a lot of people. However, in 2022, this is going to be another big trend. You can already see this trend slowly forming as fashion influencers wear socks with heels, slippers, and sandals. Even our beloved fashion icon, Emma Chamberlain, wore them in her Instagram post. I think people will be wearing shoes with unique socks including nylon socks, like the ones above. There has been an increase of stock of these nylon socks and I think they will contribute to the socks and sandals trend.

Big 70's Glasses
As 70's fashion continues to dominate the industry, it has bled it's way to sunglasses. During summer of 2021, a few fashion influencers were spotted wearing these big 70's sunglasses. Though you may be thinking, 'hasn't this been around already?', I think these glasses will hit the mainstream this year. Summer 2022 will be full of people wearing these funky sunnies and I am all here for it!

Bright & Neon Colors
Deep colors of red, green, and blue is everything during this winter. From nails, to tops, to bottoms, and to makeup, everywhere you look, you could see these luring colors. In 2022, I think beautiful bright and neon colors will be everything. All bright colors will be trending and for neon colors, I think neon pink and orange will be popular. To add, I also think the cyan color that seems very 2000's, like in the middle photo, will be trendy. Overall, I think this will be a very fun trend that people can take in multiple directions.

Iridescent/Glossy Eye Makeup
Glossy and iridescent lids are dazzling and a must. With easy application and its beauty, it will definitely become a trend in 2022. Already shown in shows like Euphoria and multiple fashion shows, they are bound to be major. There are so many ways that you can take this look and I think they would look stunning with a glossy lip as well.
