It is now once again my favorite time of the year. We are back with another trend prediction post! In the beginning of every year, videos, posts, and articles about the next hot trends are published and I am all for it. I cannot believe that it's already been a year since the 2022 trend predictions and I'm very excited to share my predictions for the new year. It's always fun to make predictions and see them actually become a trend throughout the year. I've got to say, my predictions for 2022 was pretty accurate. Other than one prediction, all of them were spot on. These predictions are based on what experts have said, what trends have already emerged, and what was seen on runways. I hope the few days of 2023 has been good so far, and everybody feels refreshed from the winter break. 2022 has definitely been better with being more sustainable and the industry has begun to move towards being more eco-friendly. Micro trends were thankfully not that big of a part of 2022, but there was certainly an emphasis on individuality and the return of 1990's fashion. In 2023, there will probably be a continuation of some of these trends and a rise of completely new ones as well. I hope my predictions inspire your fashion for the new year, and if you haven't already, why not make your own fashion trend predictions!
Rosettes
With the market becoming oversaturated with florals, rosettes are a fresh take. They can drastically elevate an outfit and they are perfect accessories. We know it's a trend if it makes it on the runway, and oh did rosettes make it. Multiple fashion houses like Prada and Sandy Liang presented their own take of rosettes during fashion week. Even influencers like Ruby Lyn has been making an appearance with them on. This is such a darling trend that I am excited for it to hit mainstream.

Polka Dots
Every new year a new pattern trends. Last year's was stripes and this year, I think it's going to be polka dots. They are very feminine and the pattern makes a simple top look less basic. I especially like them on camis because it gives them a cute and cozy pajama feeling. Fashion designers like Sergio Hudson and Proenza Schouler have presented stunning polka dot pieces and brands like Réalisation Par having been producing stunning polka dot tops. If you tend to shy away from patterns but want to start wearing them, polka dots are a great place to start.

Headbands
Headbands have been around for a while now but the headband trend of 2023 is going to be a little different from what they used to be. This year headbands will be worn right above the forehead with little to no hair showing in the front. They are a perfect way to style your hair and it even keeps your hair out of the way. It's also a great hairstyle two to three days post wash day. If you already have these stretchy headbands from the trend in the past few years, it's a great way to utilize them!

Off the Shoulder
Off the shoulder has already made their grande appearance towards the end of 2022 and they are certainly here to stay. I'm not gonna lie, I've cut off the neckline of a few of my tops, and I love them. Whether it's completely off the shoulder or just on one side, this is a trend that you can participate in no matter what your style is. It also fits the indie sleaze aesthetic that's been on the rise. (scroll a little more to read about that)

Bows
Bows have been dominating the fashion industry and they are certainly going to continue on living. A specific trend for bows that I think are going to be on the rise are bows from hair (like in the middle photo) and bows with ribbons used as laces. Bows are such darling addition to an outfit and it can really be added anywhere; it can be sewn into the clothing, you can put it in your hair, you can tie it onto a bag, or you can tie it on your pants' belt loop... there are endless possibilities.

Indie Sleaze
Indie sleaze is the latest take on the indie rock style of the 2000s and the 90's grunge. It's meant to be messy, free, careless, and grunge. I mean come on, who wouldn't want to join in on that? Shown in the photos, it takes on more muted and dark colors rather than bright ones. I think indie sleaze is a perfect summary of the current trends.
