2024 Trend Predictions

as we get used to writing "2024" on everything, it's once again that time of the year where every single fashion media, influencer, and blog come out with the trend predictions. i'm super excited to share what i think will be trending all throughout this year. i've come to learn that these trends are actually kind of decided by these "prediction" companies that are used as references by fashion houses. these brands then roll out runways and collections that reflect the future trends that were given by the prediction companies. after that, these looks go through the media and to the public and that's how "trends" are created! isn't that so cool. this isn't exactly how it works but that is the description of the process to the best of my knowledge. anyways, i hope you enjoy reading this blog as much as i enjoyed writing it;)

p.s. the predictions is what i think people will be wearing next year including what people are already wearing. don't come for me. thanks.

Big 70's Frames

recent fashion trends have been a fluctuation between super small or skinny things and big baggy things. for example, we had really big jackets become very "in" around 2020 and then we saw a rise in fitted jackets in 2022 and 2023. i'm actually quite a big fan of these trends. the skinny sunnies and super 2000s glasses have had their moment, but big 70s frames are being seen more and more. these were also in my 2023 trend predictions, but they didn't become as big. however, i think we'll be seeing quite a lot of these during spring and summer as there's already been quite a few people wearing them.

Skinny Pants

i know you all got a little jump scare from reading this title, but trust me, i was a little skeptical at first too. by skinny pants, i'm not talking about those 2016 ultra-tight-almost-leggings type of pants, but pants that aren't too baggy and on the skinnier side. the easiest way to hop on to this trend would be to wear flared leggings and jeans or straight legged jeans. i think skinny pants look really well with kitten heels and dr. martens. another fun way to style these would be to wear longer boots on top of the pants to create more dimension in the outfit. i hope you guys look past the scary title and try this one out!

Capris Leggings (w Lace)

if you're a girl, you definitely remember wearing those capri leggings that had a lace trim. it was honestly one of my go-to pants when i was in elementary school. we've been seeing more and more of capris, and although i did kind of hate them when they first started becoming popular, i quite like them now. i think it'd look really nice with some kitten heels and cute socks for a more elevated look or with sneakers and a baby tee for a more sporty look. either way, i'm excited to see people wear these this year.

Mini Hemlines

shorter skirts, shorter shorts, and shorter tops have been seen more and more recently and i am so here for it. whether it's paired as short-short or short-long, i think shorter hemlines will be everywhere, especially during spring and summer. because it's such a broad trend, it can really be utilized in so many different directions.

Short Shorts Over Tights

short shorts have been dominating, and i think they will continue to dominate in 2024 but with a little twist. we've been seeing a lot of tights incorporated into outfits and i am so on board. i think the tights and short shorts combo is so cool and i love seeing people style them together.

(Skirts + Dresses) / (Jeans + Pants)

i know some of you guys absolutely hate this look, but i think there's a really tasteful way to do it. it's such an easy way to make a boring outfit less boring, and these look so good when paired with belts. tell me these don't look good. tell me. i've been wanting to try this out, so you might just catch me wearing a skirt or dress over some pants! (i hope you liked my math reference in the title)

hope you enjoyed
