5 of My Gatekeep Fashion Brands and A Dive Into What They're All About

We all have those brands where we want to keep them to ourselves. I'm not going to lie, I have a whole list of those. Throughout my blogs, I've incorporated pieces from those brands into a lot of the outfits. If you look thoroughly enough, you'll probably be able to find the entire list. In this blog, I will be introducing 5 of my ethical and sustainable gatekeep brands. They all of such eye-catching pieces and I am confident they will make it on your list as well!

1.

Réalisation Par is a brand made for women, founded by women. It was founded by two powerful women, Alexandra Spencer and Teale Talbot, who set out to inspire other women with beautiful and dreamy clothing. The first picture is a photo of them. Rather than having collections, they produce individual pieces to create clothes that “fill in the blanks” and complete your dream closet. They have a Youtube channel and radio where they further elaborate on DREAMGIRLS. They have two collaborations, one with Claudia Schiffer and one honoring Elton John. The collaboration with Claudia Schiffer is called “Super Réal” and one of their most beloved pieces is the Clementine Dress. The delicate semi-sheer dress is youthful and perfect for the summer. Elton John for Réal is the name of the collaboration of Elton John’s archives. One of the most well known pieces is the Hercules Baby Tee. It is fitting for the increased demand for darling baby tees.

Réalisation Par is known for their elegant silk dresses and adorable baby tees. They focus on women empowerment and confidence; further supporting women through their clothes.

With Jéan was founded by two best friends, Sami Lorking-Tanner and Evangeline Titilas in 2017. All of their items are ethically produced with no unnecessary mass production and are working towards being more sustainable. Their products are packaged in biodegradable plastic and most of their clothes are 100% cotton. Women-owned businesses are always appreciated and I love that it’s two best friends working together. Their iconic With Jéan Tees are the most popular and several celebrities like Camila Mendes.

3.

Pretties Venice is a brand of history and was founded by Liza Meltzer. Liza Meltzer was obsessed with tight fitting shirts and oftentimes would go to thrift stores to look for children size t-shirts from the 1970s. Her love for these shirts never stopped and started making her own, calling it Tease Tee’s. She also loved shrunken camis with embedded bralette.

2 years ago, Tease Tee’s was rebranded to Pretties, and now they have a shop in Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice Beach, California. All of their clothing is made from cotton and are produced locally in Los Angeles. They further expanded their line to bras, bralettes, and underwear, producing only small amounts of baby tees at first. Soon, through word of mouth, they began to become increasingly popular, and eventually began to produce more. Now, they are officially back and their baby tees are one of their most beloved products. They have many varieties, different colors, designs, and sleeve lengths, but my absolute favorite is their OG Baby Tee.

4.

Mirror Palais is a sustainable, pre-order womenswear brand founded by Marcelo Gaia in 2019. He created Mirror Palais after being a stylist for more than a decade to celebrate the confident women around him. The swimwear line is reflective of his Brazilian heritage and all of his clothes have vintage silhouettes that were innovated to be more modern. All of their clothes are designed and produced in New York in efforts to keep ethical and to keep fair wages in a fast growing industry. I'm in love with their flowy and elegant pieces, and I can’t wait to get my hands on them!

Created by Rocío and Jorge, Simuero is a made-to-order jewelry brand. They make great efforts to keep the brand sustainable and ethical. Their stunning jewelry is made from recycled silver, and about 125 minutes are spent on each piece. Every piece is designed and handcrafted to each order in the beautiful Valencia, Spain. Their love for nature really shows on their website with their 3 collections all inspired by the ocean, their about page, and their efforts to be eco-friendly. The orders are sent in recycled jute packaging that can be later used as a case along with the jewelry itself wrapped in remnants of cotton that can be used to clean sunglasses or jewelry. All of this is packaged inside biodegradable compostable cornstarch bags and they ship internationally! Simuero’s unique pieces come in both gold and silver, and 3 collections. If you want to customize something, they have a customize option where you send in a reference photo and discuss the options that you have. Overall, I love what they stand for and how conscious they are about the environment. Their pieces are to die for, and the mindset of Simuero makes them that much better.
