Trends come and go, and along with the constant knocking on the door of micro trends, fast fashion has never been faster. Sometimes it's hard to keep up with all the ever-changing trends, and that's why I've brought to you five trends that are no longer "in", and five alternatives to wear instead.
Nike Air Force 1
Ever since the "VSCO girl" phase, these shoes just don't seem to leave. Though the trend has been far gone, they just keep appearing. You might be thinking, aren't shoes worn for style and function? Well, here's the thing. They're not even that comfortable. This may be a bit brutal, but they're definitely not the most comfortable shoes out there. If you're looking for comfort, I would go for the Reebok Club C 85's.
ALTERNATIVE: New Balance Dad Shoes
models: WX608V5, MX857V3, MX608V5
These stunning dad shoes are all the rage right now in the fashion community. They've got numerous colorways and models to choose from and are such perfect shoes. I have the 857's and can say that they are one of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. Even further, if you're looking for some extra height like me, these are an outstanding option.
Stitch Tanks
Though they were all the rage about a year ago, it's time to say bye-bye to these outdated tanks. It was a cool concept that we were all mesmerized by, but now it's just not it. This style of clothing can be considered a micro trend as it came and went rather quickly. If you have these in your closet, it may be time to go shopping for new tanks.
ALTERNATIVE: Tanks with Dainty Detailing
The recent trends are all about the combination of old and new. Old lingerie-type tops with detailing around the bust and babydoll tops are everything at the moment. The simpler the design, the more timeless it is. I am in love with all of these tops and hope they stay around for a while!
High Waisted Jeans
High waisted jeans are one of the most long lasting trends that I have ever seen. It's been loved for years and years for how it shapes the body and for the versatility. However, low waisted jeans have been taking over. High waisted jeans will never completely go away, but take this blog as a sign to try out low waisted jeans!
ALTERNATIVE: Low Waisted Jeans
Clothes: Motel Rocks, Motel Rocks, Urban Outfitters
Low waisted jeans are everywhere and I am so here for it. At first I was hesitant to switch from high waisted jeans to these, but I'm so glad I did. It fits in perfectly with the early 2000's trends as well as modern ones.
High Waisted Sweatpants
ALTERNATIVE: Low Waisted Flare / Straight Pants
Clothes: Brandy Melville, Garage, Brandy Melville, Brandy Melville
Graphic / Print Crop Tops
Along with the low waisted pants, here came the longer tops. Though crop tops are still in, now they share the crown with longer tops. However, the combination of bright graphics and print with crop tops are quite... cheugy. It is no longer trendy and in fact, it was a short-living trend that many people took part in.
ALTERNATIVE: Longer Top with Simpler Graphics
Clothes: Réalisation Par, Réalisation Par, Brandy Melville
Instead of bright graphic and print crop tops, try going for longer tops with simple graphics. Simple graphics tend to have a longer life span when it comes to being trendy. These three tops perfectly show simple graphic tops that fit the current trends, but are also timeless. If you want something that is even more ensured of its long-lastingness, I recommend you to buy a plain baby tee.
