THRIFT THRIFT THRIFT & How To Find Gems

One man's trash is another man's treasure. This is probably a phrase you've heard over and over. But what better way to represent it than thrifting. So many items in thrift stores are must haves. Though some items are a little questionable, there is no doubt that many items are absolute worth copping. The rush of excitement, entering a place full of treasure in every corner and aisle, every nook and cranny. You don't understand the thrill of thrifting until you experience it. Something about rummaging through piles and piles of clothes to find that one piece, that one piece that catches your eye, that one piece that whispers to you, "take me with you".

P.S. This is part two of the THRIFT THRIFT THRIFT sequel. Go checkout the first part and keep an eye out for the last part coming out next week!

Continuing on from last week...

7. Get a Cart

Personally, I like to grab a cart no matter how much I think I'm going to buy because I never know what I'll find or how much I'll find. Having a cart allows you to look through more thoroughly through the clothes since you have both hand free and the weight of clothes won't tire out your arms.

8. Grab Everything If You Like It The Tiniest Bit

If you run into a piece you're not quite sure what to do with it, grab it. You never know which pieces will look good on you and some of my best pieces are ones that I was unsure about until I tried it on.

9. Check Ends of Racks and Return Racks

When people end up not buying an item, they are most likely to put them back at the end of racks. The items on the end of racks or on return racks from fitting rooms are more selective and have gone through a few filters. This can increase your chances of finding something you like.

10. Try on Every Piece

Make sure to try on every single item. Clothes tend to look different from when they are on a hanger compared to when they are actually on. It is crucial to try on items because you never know how it'll look on you. Some thrift stores don't have fitting rooms and this is why you need to wear clothes where you can layer other clothes on top. (for more tips on what to wear to go thrifting, go to part one of THRIFT THRIFT THRIFT)

11. Check for Defects

Before heading to the cashier, make sure to look for stains, rips, and other defects. Many items have defects and sometimes they're hard to spot. In order to prevent the disappointment from a discover of a defect at home, thoroughly check your clothes, accessories, and home items. Be very selective.

12. How to Not Overpay

  • find a piece you like

  • think of up to how much you would pay for it BEFORE looking at the price tag

  • once you've got that number in your head, look at the price tag

    • if the price is the same or lower, get it, if not, don't

13. Clean It

You never know what kind of gunk is on the items or where they've been. It is essential that you clean your items to increase the lastingness and for your health!
