I've always thought it was unfair how tall people pull off any outfit like a model, but on short people like me, some outfits look a little wonky. Tall people tend to have better proportions, but do not worry, I have a solution for us short people. The trick to better-looking proportions is utilizing the optical illusions that clothes provide. I've curated a list of tips and tricks that you can use to effectively employ your clothes. What's even better is that these tricks don't only help people who are short, but that people of all heights can also use these hacks to upgrade outfits. Well now then, take a scroll at these perfect clothes for short people and make use of those tricks!
Short Skirts / Shorts
One rule of thumb for better proportions is longer legs. And in order to make it look like you have longer legs, wear short skirts or shorts. This creates an illusion that make your legs look more elongated and will make it look like you have better proportions overall. Though it doesn't really matter what type of shorts or skirt you wear, I found that the trick works a lot better with skirts and shorts that aren't that tight. So, if you are going to use this hack, I would advise that you wear bottoms that aren't too fitting.
Vertical Stripes
Vertical Stripes can make you look taller because they have what's called a slimming effect. The stripes make your body look more slim, causing the proportions to be better. This effect works on anything, so wearing vertical striped tops and bottoms will all give the illusion of making someone look taller.
Wear the Color Black
When in doubt, always go with black. This is probably the easiest hack that you could use. Have you ever stood in the mirror thinking why you look slimmer and black and a little wider in white? There's nothing wrong with looking like either, but to look taller, black is your best bet. It doesn't matter where you wear black, but incorporating the color black into your top, bottoms, or jacket can elongate your body. However, just like the stripes, this hacks works the best when used on pants and other bottoms.
Connect the Colors
"Connecting colors" is wearing an outfit that has at least two pieces of the same color touching each other. For example, wearing a white top with white pants can be "connecting colors". Or, this could also be wearing blue pants and blue shoes. One last example, can be wearing a black pants with a black over-sized jacket. Do you get where I'm going with this? If not, that's totally okay but it may help to look at some visual examples like the ones above. This is one of my favorite hacks because it's so fun to incorporate into an outfit and there are endless possibilities.
